Home Food Storage app good for
Money well spent. This app is great for tracking your storage- food, water, hygiene supplies, etc. Its quite flexible and allows many adaptations. The format is user friendly and pretty well organized.
It would be nice to be able to single out an individuals planned needs eg: only 1 person in the family needs a particular supplement. Lets say I have 5 kids but only 1 needs the supplement, I need to input that as each child needing 1/5 of the dose so that an adequate amount is stored for the one person that needs it. it would be nice if I could specify that just the one child needs it. Otherwise, no complaints. Good work!
Very good app! Even for the most unsatisfable consumer.
Enhancements:
- Import
- Export a single category, group or type
- Possibility to choose the icons for personalized subcategories
Bugs:
- Starting the app in landscape view the app is stuck; you unblock the screen by turning the device to portrait view or by changing 1x/2x view (on iPad)
***OLD VERSION (some bugs were corrected)
Bugs:
- At first start if you delete preconfigured food fields so that no type remains, the overall goal at first page goes wrong and the screen becomes fuzzy, you see nothing but the header; clicking somewhere and opening food, then inserting an item brings to normality again
- Entering a List&Report submode and coming back to List&Report mainpage in horizontal page view causes the screen to go to vertical page view, this also happens opening an extra document (in More area) and coming back
- Some new item erroneously shown in Not updated item list
- Sending mail (expired list), one of two vertical display modes is interdicted
- Extimation of duration of item should be referred to package, if it is set
- More documents area, downloading is quite buggy, Cancel doesnt work you have to close and reopen application. One document remained stuck at 0%, cant download it anymore
The first app Ive ever used that I feel is deserving of 5 stars! This app is close to ideal and meets a significant need. I will recommend this to all my neighbors. Trying to decide if we have the discipline to subtract daily inventory usage...but can definitely see the benefits of doing so. Have a few questions still but I am very happy! I appreciated the quick response to my email technical question. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to upgrades.
Love this app! I would like to see a category for the number of serving a can has added to the list of specifics. The freeze dried, dehydrated and canned food all have different weights to them. A better tally I would think would be in the number of servings a can holds. Weight is important too and needs to be considered as well. I know in the options you can chose either weight or servings. Both are important elements to consider.
I found this app very useful once I took the time to go to its website and review the directions.
Know that the app is very structured, which limits your ability to hop directly from place to place. Sometimes you just have to cancel out of an action to get to the nav bar on the bottom if youve changed your mind. On the other hand, if you move the frittata from the freezer to the fridge, you have multiple ways to so note this in the app.
My advice is to avoid the temptation to enter in the contents of your pantry willy-hilly. Play with the app with a few items, add a category or two, delete things you dont need.Im not a survivalist, so I really pared the stock list down... Syncing between my iPad and my iPhone puts my inventory in my pocket when shopping, which is helpful.
So let me start by saying Im a bit of a food hoarder, so I love this app! Sometimes I forget what I have on hand while shopping which is why I have multiple bags of obscure items, well no more. I love the fact that I have everything inventoried by location, including toiletries and medications. I also have the expiration dates and what I paid so I can comparison shop. I would highly recommend this app for anyone prepping for emergencies or anyone who tends to forget what they have in the house.
Some bad moments
Gave this a 2 star because of its potential, however I got frustrated with it. I wanted an inventory of my pantry not so much as an emergency app. I liked the scanning part of it. Now what frustrated me about it:
- when I scanned a can of beans it did not fit into category so I had to settle as a dry legume even though it is not. Need more categories like canned goods.
- when I scanned another can a beans like the first of course it had the same label. Problem was since it had the same label app assumed it must have the same expiry date. I could only have one expiry date for the same type of can.
- if there some trick to fixing the above problem I do not know as there is no documentation on how to use this software.

I was disappointed with this app. Not properly orchestrated with good instructions to follow. I could have got all the help I wanted from the LDS web site by searching for emergency preparedness and food storage. This app should be free. It needs a lot more work, maybe do a redesign from scratch.
This used to be my FAVORITE app! I used it ALL the time. Scanner worked great no complaints- until I updated my phone and lost ALL my info. It took a long time to input- wont be using this again until that gets fixed. That was beyond frustrating. Also would be nice if it had a feature where when you used an item it would add it to a grocery list so you could always keep your year supply up.
I lost much of my info. after the update. Very disappointed that I will have to re-enter most of this by hand all over again. This app. could be so much more practical if it were possible to export it to a report form on the home computer and print it out in addition to having it on the iPhone.
For the love of all that is good please create an iPad version! I would be willing to pay for it. I would give you free advertising on my website. Pretty Please!
I like what it does, but Im fearful of spending the time to add everything, as lots of others have had their data lost. Needs a sync or Dropbox functionality between iPad and iPhone. Glad you can export a CSV, but doesnt do much unless you can import it back again. Scanner works well though and UPC list seems to be growing. Just scanned some Kirkland Signature brand items with no issues.
